Skills Post 2 - Summarizing and Paraprasing

 Hello Everyone!!
Today I am going to post about summarizing and paraphasing.
I'm going to summarize an article about 'Shark Attacks'.
Also I'm going to parphrase an article about 'Bear Attacks'.


<Summarizing 'Shark Attacks'>
 When people go swimming in the ocean it may be possible that you will be attacked by a shark. However it is very unlikely. It is more likely that you will be struck by a lightning. Even though you are attacked the chances that you will killed is less then 10%. In addition you are more likely to drown than to be attacked by a shark. The chances that you will be attacked by a shark is about 1 in 11million. The chances to drown are more higher than that. Still, if you are afraid of shark attacks, you could prevent it by traveling in groups because sharks are more likely to attack solitary swimmers, and stay out of water if you have a cut because sharks could smell blood very well.

<Paraphrasing 'Bear Attacks'>
 According to the Yellowstone National Park in the U.S you are more likely to drown than being attacked by a bear. The statistics were shown that 101 people died from drowning but only 5 peopole were killed by grizzly bears between the period 1839 and 1994.

 Now I will choose an article that I am interested in and summarize and paraphrase.

<Summarizing 'Kim named 8th highest paid female athlete'>
  Korean figure skating star, Kim Yuna has been ranked the 8th amoung the top 10 highest paid female athletes in the world by the magazine, Forbes. She earned about $10million. The publication introduced Yuna as the most famous female athlete in Korea. The statistics is done during the period between 2010 July and 2011 July covering endorsements, appearance fees, prize money, licensing income and salary. Kim Yuna is the only winter sport athlete on the list.

According to the Forbes magazine, Vancouver Olympics Figure Skating gold medalist, Kim Yuna earned 8th place by earning $10million the 7th place was taken by Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova who earned $25million.
